18 Mar 2008The first Asian Beach Games will be held this year in Bali, Indonesia from Oct. 18 to Oct. 26, 2008.

10,000 participants from 45 Nations are expected to compete within 17 beach sports events, these sporting events are:
Beach Handball
A team sport where two teams pass and bounce a ball trying to throw it in the goal of the opposing team. The game is similar to team handball, but is not played in a sports hall, but on sand instead. Matches are played in two or three sets depending on when a team wins their second set of the game
Beach Kabaddi
A team sport where a two teams of seven players occupy opposite halves of a field of 12.5m × 10m (roughly half the size of a basketball court). Each team has five supplementary players that are held in reserve. The game is organized into two 20-minute halves, with a five-minute half-time break during which the teams switch sides.
The teams take turns sending a “raider” across to the opposite team’s half, where the goal is to tag or wrestle (“confine”) members of the opposite team before returning to the home half. Tagged members are “out” and are sent off the field.

Beach Pencaksilat

Beach Sepaktakraw
Sepak takraw or kick volleyball is a sport native to Southeast Asia, resembling volleyball, except that it uses a rattan ball and only allows players to use their feet, knee, chest and head to touch the ball. A cross between Soccer and volleyball.
Beach Soccer
Beach Soccer (Beasal) is a variant of the sport of association football. The game itself is played on beaches, and emphasizes skill, agility and goals.
Whilst football has been played informally on the beach for years, the introduction of beach soccer was an attempt to codify rules
for the game. This was done in 1992 by the founders of Beach Soccer Worldwide, a company set to develop beach soccer and responsible for the majority of its tournaments to this day.
The irregularity of the soft-sand playing surface leads to a style of play where players must improvise. The compact pitch (measuring 28×37 metres) allows players to score from anywhere. This leads to high scoring games, with an average of sixty attempts at goal in a single game, with an average scoring rate of one goal every 3-4 minutes — eleven goals in total per game.
Beach Volleyball
A sport played on sand. Two teams, positioned on either side of a net which divides a rectangular court, hit a volleyball, usually using the hands or arms. Players on each team attempt to hit the ball over the net in such a way that it touches the ground inside the court boundaries, and to prevent the ball from touching the ground on their own side of the court. Beach volleyball is a popular recreational activity on many beaches around the world, and is generally most popular in areas with wide sandy beaches.
Beach Wrestling
A physical engagement between two unarmed persons played on the sand, in which each wrestler strives to get an advantage over or control of their opponent. Physical techniques which embody the style of wrestling are clinching, holding, locking, and leverage. Avoiding techniques likely to lead to serious injury, wrestling has aspects of ritual fighting, but its basic principles are closely related to those of military hand-to-hand combat or self-defence systems.
Body Building
A sport called competitive bodybuilding, bodybuilders display their physiques to a panel of judges, who assign points based on their aesthetic appearance. The muscles are revealed through a combination of fat loss, oils, and tanning (or tanning lotions) which combined with lighting make the definition of the muscle group more distinct.
Dragon Boat
A very long and narrow human powered boat used in the team paddling sport. For racing events, dragon boats are always rigged with decorative Chinese dragon heads and tails and are required to carry a large drum aboard. At other times the decorative regalia is usually removed, although the drum often remains aboard for training purposes.
The standard crew complement of a contemporary dragon boat is around 22, comprising 20 paddlers in pairs facing toward the bow of the boat, 1 drummer or caller at the bow facing toward the paddlers, and 1 steerer or tiller(helm) at the rear of the boat, although for races it is common to have just 18 paddlers. Dragon boats vary in length and crew size will vary accordingly, from small dragon boats with 10 paddlers, up to the massive traditional boats which have upwards of 50 paddlers, plus drummer and steerer.
Jet Ski
A sport that uses Jet-Ski, the rider sits or stands on and can be played by racing or freestyle.
Marathon Swimming
An activity in which people swim in large, outdoor bodies of water such as oceans, bays, lakes, reservoirs, rowing basins and rivers. While casual swimming in such bodies of water is generally referred to as open water swimming, this article is limited to swims over 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) or long distance swimming in open water with the goals of fitness and/or competition.
Paragliding
A recreational and competitive flying sport. A paraglider is a free-flying, foot-launched aircraft. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing, whose shape is formed by the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing.
Sailing
The art of controlling a sailing vessel. By adjusting the rigging, rudder and dagger or centre board, a sailor manages the force of the wind on the sails (main and/or jib) in order to change the direction and speed of a boat. Mastery of the skill requires experience in varying wind and sea conditions, as well as knowledge concerning sailboats. Today most people enjoy sailing as a recreational activity. Recreational sailing can be further divided into racing, cruising and “daysailing” or dinghy sailing.
Surfing
Surfing is a surface water sport in which the participant is carried along the face of a breaking wave, most commonly using a surfboard, although wave-riders may make use of kneeboards, body boards (aka boogie boards), kayaks, surf skis, and their own bodies.
Two major subdivisions within contemporary stand-up surfing are reflected by the differences in surfboard design and riding style of longboarding and shortboarding.
Triathlon
A triathlon is an endurance sports event consisting of swimming, cycling and running over various distances. As a result, proficiency in swimming, cycling, and running alone is not sufficient to guarantee a triathlon athlete a competitive time: trained triathlon athlete have learned to race each stage in a way that preserves their energy and endurance for subsequent stages. In most modern triathlons, these events are placed back-to-back in immediate sequence and a competitor’s official time includes the time required to “transition” between the individual legs of the race, including any time necessary for changing clothes and shoes.
